How To Look Taller

At only 5 Foot Tall, I have often been told as soon as I take off my shoes how extremely short I am and throughout my years it would truly shock people when I would kick the shoes off.  I really am petite and although I used to despise being short, I embrace it now that I am older.  Below are some easy tips on how to instantly look taller to help you feel more confident!

1.  Cut Your Hair!

Yep, I said it!  Cut that hair if you want to appear taller and give the illusion you are a few inches taller. While long locks are totally sexy, they really weigh down and drag you down in length.  A shoulder length hair style or shorter will definitely give you some help.  I chopped off my long hair to a long bob a while ago, and I love it!  It was just what I needed.

2.  Wear a Monochromatic Outfit!

Nothing gives the illusion of being taller more than dressing in head-to-toe all in one color!  Above, are great examples of how to do this.  Your shades can be one or two shades deeper also.  You don't have to have one exact shade of red.  Try a fitted sweater in blue and a blue pair of pencil leg pants with tan shoes.  You don't have to wear crazy colored shoes, but do wear a neutral shoe such as nude or tan to keep the look going strong.  And, also... if you are feeling very bold, try to wear a hat in the similar color you are wearing to add even more height!

3.  High Waist Pants

If you can do this, I highly recommend trying this look out like above!  High waist pants are simply stunning when they fit just right.  This look is perfect for a shorty, because the colors are dark and the pants are the perfect wide leg.  They are not too bulky or wide at all, and if you wish to wear a wide leg pant, you must go high waisted, or you will just be swallowed in your pants and look frumpy.  Trust me, I do wear one pair of low waisted wide leg pants and always look so darn short!  I try though to just wear the highest shoes I can to look somewhat decent.  I fell in love with this picture today when one of my fellow bloggers posted this picture as inspiration today and had to share this gorgeous picture!

4.  Wear 5 Inch Heels or Platforms

They can be a bit too high for average ladies and if you can't do 5 inch or higher shoes, than at least wear a 4 inch heel to give you some pep in that step!  I have always worn high shoes and big shoes since being a teenager and like I said in the beginning of this post, I sure shock everyone when I take off my shoes!

5.  And Last... try Pilates!

As an ex-professional figure skater, this form of exercise is seriously amazing!  It will tone and will for sure lengthen your body and make you stand taller and in just 10 sessions you will see a difference in your body!  I have to admit, that I haven't been exercising, but this is the only exercise I do when I do exercise because it makes me feel so good when I do it and my posture is always so much better if I stick to it!

Well, I hope these simple tips will help add a few inches for you and thanks so much for reading today!  Have a great week!

xx,  Pip

oh wow, you don't even look your height in photos, you're so amazing at making yourself look taller :) i'm not too tall myself, i'm 5 feet 7 inches but I look so small around the people here in New Zealand, they're like giants here, hehe.

great tips though! i never knew pilates and short hair can make us taller, that's so smart, whoa :) i really love the tips, you're so inventive :)

and oh, wearing nude heels make the legs longer as well :)

hope you're doing well, all my love ~ christine. XO

Pip I had no idea you are 5 feet tall! You def look taller in photos and these are great tips! Petite girls often love long hair, I think long hair in general is glamorous but you are right, it does shrink your proportions.

You'll have to let me know how those pants work out from the Limited. The last time I went in there, none of them fit me, but the pattern was similar and right now they have coupons so I figured my readers would give it a try!
